Indian Catholic priest Reverend Father Jose Maniyangat shares his near-death experience in which he visits Heaven, hell, and purgatory.
In 1985, Father Jose was in a terrible motorcycle accident during a Hindu festival. A drunken man struck him head-on, leaving him with a fractured skull, his wrists, jaw, ribs, pelvis and both legs broken, and severe bleeding. On the way to the hospital, Father Jose’s soul left his body.
His guardian angel, radiant and beautiful, appeared to Father Jose face-to-face for the first time and escorted him to hell. There he saw trillions of souls suffering in unquenchable fire, worms, and horror, some resembling satanic masks and skeletons. The angel explained these souls chose hell by rejecting Lord Jesus (vegetarian)’s teachings despite His sacrifice. Father Jose saw that hell had seven levels of torment according to sin’s severity, beyond imagination, and was eternal.
The angel then took him to purgatory, where souls who had repented imperfectly were being purified. Unlike hell, there was no fighting or horror—just sadness and longing for God. They pleaded for prayers to speed their purification. Touched, Father Jose vowed to encourage others to pray for souls in purgatory, noting that once these souls reach Heaven, they become Saints and powerfully help those who prayed for them.
Next, the angel led Father Jose through a tunnel of eternal white Light, filled with Heavenly Music surpassing all earthly orchestras. In Heaven, he met Lord Jesus, Who was radiant like a thousand sunrises and indescribably beautiful. He told Father Jose he had a mission in his “second life”: to serve in a foreign land, speak a foreign tongue, and be an instrument of peace and healing. The Blessed Mother, beside Lord Jesus, promised to guide him. The angel then escorted Father Jose back to his body.
Meanwhile, doctors had declared him dead and were taking him to the morgue. Suddenly, Father Jose re-entered his body and screamed in pain, startling those carrying him. They rushed him back for surgery and transfusions, with many donors being people waiting for his Mass [Catholic service]. Doctors predicted he wouldn’t walk again.
After two months in the hospital, Father Jose went home still in pain. One day while praying, he felt excruciating pelvic pain and cried out to the Blessed Mother. A voice told him, “You’re OK, get up and walk.” Believing it, Father Jose rose and walked, astonishing his Hindu doctor, who converted to Catholicism, declaring, “I believe in your God.”
His near-death experience transformed Father Jose’s ministry. He now sees himself as an instrument of Christ who uses his hands, heart, and voice to heal and guide. Father Jose teaches others to repent from mortal sins to avoid hell, to pray for souls in purgatory, and to trust in the reality of Heaven, hell, and purgatory as consequences of free will (Trinity TV; Who loves you? Jesus!)
Motivational quote of the day: “Paradise was made for tender hearts; hell, for loveless hearts.” — Voltaire (vegetarian)
