What are governments most afraid of? (Revolution.) Revolution, yes. If governments are afraid of revolution, then they should encourage people to be vegan even more. Right? (Yes.) When people become vegan, they would not want to cause harm to others. So the government would have more calm and peace to govern the country and bring global harmony. And it would have more time to foster foreign relations on a broader scale and take good care of the people, so that people would support this kind of government. The more they like it, the less likely they would start a revolution. Right? (Yes.) The less revolution, the more money and time the government would have to take care of people and promote foreign relations. And if it has good foreign relations, all other countries would be supportive. Isn’t that so? (Yes.) The people are well and the government is benevolent. So they are both free and helpful to each other. And when the government has good foreign relations and treats its citizens well, people would love it even more. The country would be more peaceful and prosperous. Right? (Yes.) So no need to go out and say, “Oh, vote for me!” “Pick me! Pick me!” They would vote for you anyway. People would definitely vote for that kind of government. They would not go against it. You see, it’s only one word – benevolence, and Confucius has taught us so much.
Of course benevolence should include love for animals. To love those who are weaker is to be benevolent, isn’t it? You not only love those who are the same as you. As an English saying goes, if a person bullies someone who is smaller than him, then people would say “Why don’t you pick on someone your own size?” It means, why don’t you pick someone who is like yourself? Why bully the weak and small? Something like that. “Why don’t you pick on someone your own size?” This is looking down on someone who uses physical strength to bully someone who is weak and small. If we see someone bullying a kid, or someone weaker than him, will we look up to him? (No.) No! That’s right. So what about animals? They are more pitiful, smaller and weaker, aren’t they? (Yes.) So benevolence means a gentleman should not bully someone smaller, let alone animals. Yes, that’s right. That’s what benevolence means. It really should include love for animals. Is that right? (Yes.)
If a country is already peaceful, then the neighboring country could learn from its example and have a good relationship with it. Then they would not make war against each other, right? (Yes.) A good country would affect many other countries, so benevolence is truly the most important quality. Right? The most important.
