Since October 25, 1993, when the first Supreme Master Ching Hai Day was commemorated in Honolulu, Hawaii, the Honorable Mayor Frank F. Fasi, on behalf of the U.S. Government, presented Supreme Master Ching Hai (vegan) with the International Peace Commendation Award and Honorary Citizenship. These honors recognized Her philanthropic work for those in need, compassion in disaster relief, and unwavering dedication to promoting global peace and the ideal of a harmonious world. For decades, Master’s humanitarian deeds and boundless love have touched countless people of all races, as well as our cherished animal friends. I was very, very impressed with this young Lady because She exemplifies what we call the concept of the brotherhood of man in the Christian religion. She exemplifies the Aloha spirit of Hawaiians. Aloha spirit is the same thing – I am my brother’s and sister’s keeper – and She exemplifies that to a tee. She also brings love around the world where there is hate. She brings hope where there is despair. And She brings understanding where there is misunderstanding. She is the Light of a great person, an Angel of Mercy for all of us. Now, therefore, I, Frank F. Fasi, Mayor of the City and County of Honolulu, do hereby proclaim October 25, 1993, as The Supreme Master Ching Hai Day. On October 25, 1995 to commemorate the Third Anniversary of Supreme Master Ching Hai Day, a grand celebration was held at Hsihu Ashram in Taiwan, also known as Formosa. The event featured our Most Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai (vegan), honorable dignitaries, distinguished local guests, and members of the media. Several sent congratulatory letters, including His Excellency President Bill Clinton of the United States. Dr. Chen Hung-Kwang: Respected and Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai, The whole world and the the entire United States have not forgotten that October 25 is our Great Master’s Supreme Master Ching Hai Day. Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association members (all vegans) from around the world also attended the event. They joyously gathered to celebrate in colorful traditional costumes, enjoy uplifting multicultural performances, and meditate for spiritual elevation and world peace. At today’s celebration, apart from having distinguished guests attending this grand event, we have also received many congratulatory messages from various places like Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, Canada, and United States. What delights us the most is that the First and Second Prime Ministers of Cambodia will present the Medal and Badge of National Construction Award to [Supreme Master] Ching Hai. We have invited Mr. Chou Ching-Long to present the Award on their behalf.
