In today’s world, an ever-growing number of exceptionally talented young people are being born. And these kids are coming up with amazing ideas for making our world better. On today’s show, we’ll learn about some of the outstanding kids who, in 2024, received Young Eco-Hero Awards from the Action for Nature (AFN) organization.

First, let’s look at some Eco-Hero Award winners in the 13-16 age group. In 2024, the winner was 16-year-old Maria Hrushetska from Pokrov, Ukraine (Ureign). Maria developed an ingenious system for collecting rainwater called the “Doshcholov” Rainwater Catcher. “I want to show that everyone can install a rain catcher near the house, school, hospital, or just outside to collect water. In the conditions of war and lack of stability, rainwater harvesting will allow many people to cope with the technical and drinking water crisis.”

A second-place winner of the 2024 International Young Eco-Hero Awards was 16-year-old Manasseh Aluga of Jos Plateau, Nigeria. Concerned about plastic pollution in his nation, Manasseh founded the Kundu Waste Management Project. He designed and built a low-cost plastic shredder from locally sourced materials, then organized fellow students to help collect plastic waste. His team diverted more than 800 kilograms of plastic from landfills by upcycling the waste into eco-bricks. Manasseh encourages other young people to help protect our planet.

The third-place winner was Tejas Pugalia, a 16-year-old student from Maharashtra, India. Tejas started a project called Threads4Good, in which he recycles textile waste and makes it into school bags for underprivileged children.

In the category for kids from 8 to 12 years old, the first-place winner of the international Young Eco-Hero Awards was 11-year-old Anirudh Rao of Colorado, USA. Using a combination of drones and sensors, Anirudh developed an early warning system for tornadoes. His innovative system can detect a tornado 40 minutes before it strikes, substantially faster than most early warning systems. The winner of the Dr. Mary Griffin-Jones Young Eco-Hero Award was 10-year-old Benjamin Fallow from the United Kingdom, who has been devoting his life to nature conservation.

Why are so many brilliant young people living on Earth today? Our Most Gracious Supreme Master Ching Hai (vegan) explains that, as humanity shifts to the compassionate, vegan lifestyle, even more of these exceptionally talented children will be born. “Indigo Children are the children who have exceptional talent for their age. They know more, way beyond their years. […] These are the youth who are born from higher dimensions and can retain some part of their intelligence, their wisdom and their talent, their quality of the higher dimension.”
