Rob Williamson had a life-changing near-death experience caused by severe sleep apnea [breathing problems], which he had long ignored despite warnings from his doctor and wife. One night, he stopped breathing and felt his spirit leave his body. He experienced a deep sense of freedom and peace and noticed his spirit form was pure and unmarked, unlike his tattooed physical body.
Rob was pulled into a dark vortex where time didn’t exist. There, he relived his life through the eyes of others— especially those he had hurt. Rob described his past as filled with violence, betrayal, and theft, and he felt the pain he had caused others. The place was full of suffering spirits and a heavy, cold darkness. Though there was no fire, it felt like hell— cold, empty, and full of despair. Worst of all, every spirit there knew that Heaven is real, and had to live with the fact that they had chosen the opposite.
Rob believed he deserved to be there in the darkness and accepted his fate. But suddenly, a powerful Light appeared, full of warmth and an unconditional love unlike anything he had ever known. The other spirits turned away, unable to face the Light. Humbled, Rob dropped to his knees. The Light spoke, offering him a choice. Rob, feeling unworthy, said he belonged in the darkness. The Light grew brighter, Its love even more intense, and repeated that he had a choice. But Rob denied It a second time, insisting “I know who I am” and that he was in the abyss for a reason. Then the Light told him to look to the left. There Rob saw a young girl standing on a green patch of grass. She was the spirit of his unborn daughter from a past abortion. Her presence filled him with peace and urged him to choose the Light and start again.
Rob chose the Light and returned to his body, waking in pain and shouting, “I feel GOD!” The experience transformed Rob. He began reading the Bible, repented for his past— including letting his wife get an abortion— and was baptized. Now, he strives to live with more compassion and forgiveness, guided by a deep belief in an eternal spiritual reality—and hopes others will choose the same (The Other Side NDE)
