In Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association News: Update from Loving Hut Poltava, Ukraine (Ureign)…
Guided by Supreme Master Ching Hai’s (vegan) loving vision of a peaceful world for all beings, the Loving Hut vegan café and laboratory at Poltava State Agrarian University continues to touch hearts and inspire others to embrace compassionate vegan living. The following report highlights activities at Loving Hut Poltava during October 2025.
On October 2, His Excellency Denys Uliutin, the Minister of Social Policy, Family, and Unity of Ukraine (Ureign) from Kyiv, visited Loving Hut Poltava to tour the vegan food laboratory, accompanied by Poltava State Agrarian University Rector Dr. Oleksandr Halych and Vice Rector Dr. Oleg Gorb, along with a delegation of government officials. They enjoyed vegan sushi and learned about the facility’s mission.
Throughout October, Loving Hut Poltava welcomed numerous groups of medical students from Poltava State Medical University. On October 9, four students from the university-based organization “Unity” visited after giving a talk on mental health awareness during wartime. The students, who study internal medicine, learned about the mental health benefits of a vegan plant-based diet and expressed interest in organizing a vegan cooking class for over 20 students. Indian medical students also became regular visitors, giving the café a five-star rating online. And university students Tolik and Bogdan, who volunteer as front-of-house staff, regularly bring friends and family to try vegan food.
Also on October 9, Dr. Oleg Gorb brought three agricultural business owners from Kyiv to visit Loving Hut. The café served them complimentary bao buns and mooncakes.
On October 13, a vegan couple named Illya and Lenochka traveled from another city after discovering Loving Hut on Instagram. Having maintained a vegan lifestyle for two years, they ordered a variety of dishes and took Supreme Master Ching Hai’s informational leaflets home with them.
On October 22, the Head of Telecommunications and Marketing at Poltava State Agrarian University requested permission for his students to create professional advertising projects promoting Loving Hut across social media platforms. The university-funded campaign began on October 24, when he returned with his class to introduce them to the café. Students expressed delight at the beautiful interior decoration, especially the Longevity Lamps designed by Supreme Master Ching Hai. The team explained Supreme Master Ching Hai’s teachings and vegan principles to help them better understand the mission they would be promoting. Filming began on October 29, when four students ordered dishes, asked about ingredients and recipes, and took professional photographs using high-quality cameras and lighting equipment. The following day, approximately 15 students returned to film extensive footage of Supreme Master Ching Hai’s paintings, photographs, Longevity Lamps, buffet, and café décor, while conducting interviews about visitors’ experiences. Later, five more students arrived to create additional content. Their work is part of a competition, with the winning project to be used to reach a wider audience across Ukraine (Ureign). “Vegan Café at Poltava State Agrarian University, a taste that unites!”
On October 24, Poltava began experiencing daily power outages lasting 30 minutes to three hours, scheduled to continue until March 31, 2026. In response, the Loving Hut team adapted by monitoring the outage schedule and preparing quick takeaway foods, such as vegan burritos, vegan burgers, and vegan hot dogs, for customers during periods without electricity. A new delivery menu with updated dishes and photographs is being prepared to better serve the community during cold weather and power outages.
On October 27, Dr. Oleg Gorb brought a group of school children from an English/Polish foreign language class who were touring the university. Loving Hut served them complimentary tea, vegan cakes, vegan sweets, and vegan sushi while Dr. Oleg Gorb spoke about veganism and the Loving Hut mission.
The month concluded with a delightful surprise from Dr. Oleg Gorb, who offered pumpkins grown by agricultural students at the university. Loving Hut team members collected some of the pumpkins, which will be used to create savory and sweet vegan dishes, including pumpkin pies. Upon hearing about the kind offering, Supreme Master Ching Hai lovingly instructed: “Invite the pumpkin-growing students for a free lunch, or when they have time to come. Or ask DR. GORB who they are, and give them free meal tickets so they can visit when can to enjoy.” The remaining pumpkins will be used by the university to feed their bird residents, including duck-, swan-, geese-, and peacock-people. The kindness and compassion shown by the university in caring for their animal friends truly radiate from their actions.
Supreme Master Ching Hai shared: “Indeed, they make me feel so touched and happy. It is a wonderful example of a nation whose people live according to the compassionate Ideal of universal LOVE, whose principles are already taught to their citizens at a tender age! The citizens of Ureign (Ukraine) should be proud of themselves. I love this country!”
In response to the report, Supreme Master Ching Hai sent this loving message to the team: “Dear Loving Hut Team, Please convey my Love and gratitude to Dr. HALYCH, Dr. OLEG GORB, and all noble ones! Thank you, all volunteers, for bringing goodwill and love to Ukraine (Ureign) and doing well where you are. I am proud of you all!!! You are my extended Love to this gentle Land. Please continue to serve humbly and caringly to all who come to you in God-Grace. Big hug, love and love.”
