George Mason University [US] study shows that eating one mango daily, despite its higher sugar content, improves blood sugar control, insulin sensitivity, and reduces body fat in adults with prediabetes. Researchers stress that the health impact of food depends on the whole nutritional package, not just sugar content. Mangoes provide plant-based fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants that help protect against diabetes risk, making whole fruits and other vegan foods a valuable health-saving strategy (SciTechDaily)
Doctors say pistachios are an ancient snack with numerous health benefits. Pistachios contain protein, healthy fats, and prebiotic plant-based fiber that supports digestion and immune function. They also provide potassium, CoQ10, vitamin B6, lutein, and zeaxanthin that aid in energy production and eye health. Enjoy a small handful a day as part of a balanced and nutritious vegan diet (Fox News)
Doctors say banaba leaves, often brewed as tea, are rich in corosolic acid and ellagitannins that help lower blood sugar and improve insulin sensitivity. Research shows they can reduce oxidative stress, support weight management, and protect the heart. Traditionally used in Southeast Asia for diabetes care, banaba leaf tea offers a gentle, plant-powered way to balance energy and metabolic health (CHÂN THIỆN MỸ BÁCH NIÊN)

American spiritual healer Jonathan Van Valin shares his life-changing near-death experience: At 29, Jonathan underwent a rare and extremely painful surgery for sleep apnea [breathing issues]. After four days in the hospital, he was sent to his father’s farmhouse to recover. Three or four days into his father’s care, he felt a sudden inner “click.” Instantly, he knew the life force in his body was draining away; his body was beginning to die. Three recognitions flooded in simultaneously.
First Recognition: He realized he was not his body. An aware, conscious aspect of himself— alive and unlimited— was simply witnessing the body’s shutdown. That pure awareness had never been contained by the body at all. With that came immediate freedom from suffering, even though the physical pain did not lessen. He could feel pain but did not suffer from it, discovering for the first time the difference between pain and suffering. The body itself and everything in this physical dimension appeared illusory and airy—never truly real to begin with. This was not like the usual out-of-body accounts; he wasn’t “over there” looking at his body. Rather, his pure awareness recognized that the body and the world had never really contained him.
Second Recognition: The life force was draining slowly. It would take days, not hours. This absence of urgency let Jonathan “revel” in the experience, sitting in the freedom of it as the body weakened.
Third Recognition: Even the individuated, non-physical sense of self began dissolving into a vast, all-encompassing “Allness.” Words failed him; it was the “peace that passes all understanding.” In becoming that Allness, nothing could be lacking— no want, need, or fear was possible. The body’s mind-bending pain and dying process could not disturb the overwhelming peace and freedom of this state.
During this time, his father moved in and out of the room doing chores. Jonathan, fully aware he was dying, felt no impulse to tell him. He simply smiled and felt love for his father. In a state where fear was impossible, the natural “default” was pure peace and love, even as the body declined.
That night and the next day, Jonathan remained in the same profound state. As the life force drained faster, a new awareness arose: he had a choice. He could pass fully through “the doorway” into the Infinite, or stay. Passing through would be effortless, like falling off a log. He marveled why anyone wouldn’t go— this was the greatest peace and fullness imaginable. Yet the thought came: “I think I’m not going to go through that doorway. I think I’m going to stay here.” It was close— 51% stay, 49% go— but he said to himself, “I think there’re some things I need to do here before I go. I haven’t done them. I think I’ll stay.” Baffling, as he had no idea what those things were. But he felt inclined to stick around, figure them out, and do them.
Soon after deciding, his father entered again, concerned. “Jonathan, something’s not right. We’re going back to the hospital,” he said. They drove two hours. Jonathan was still dying yet felt it was almost comically irrelevant. In the emergency room, doctors discovered he was dying simply of dehydration. They placed an IV [intravenous] tube. Instantly, the process reversed: Jonathan felt the life force literally flowing back in, as though his feet were being put back on the ground. Because of his choice earlier, this return carried a quiet joy.
Jonathan never forgot the experience, though at first he could not articulate it—he could not tell his father he had merged into infinite vastness, or that his body and self were illusory. It took years of inner searching and more spiritual events to integrate it. One of the most meaningful later moments came when his father was dying. Jonathan, at his bedside, met him on a “soul level” and traveled with him to the edge of the same vast Allness, able to guide him there because he had already been. Hours later, when he came back and watched his father die, it did not feel terrible, but instead like a great honor filled with immense peace.
In the decade following, Jonathan turned inward, probing the nature of self and experiencing even collective human suffering as one shared reality. Eventually, his sense of an individuated self dissolved permanently into that same peace. He left his old life—selling his business, car, home, and saying goodbye to his partner—to live months in retreat. On returning, he found intuitive and healing gifts emerged spontaneously.
Today, Jonathan shares his story and these gifts as ways of meeting people in their own experience of Oneness. Looking back, he believes the reason he stayed is to help others touch that same all-encompassing love and peace that he encountered on the other side (IANDS)
